For our customers who plan to erect a structure from Real Wood Barns in Hawaii, the Tropics or any area where extreme humidity and termites exist, we offer some design changes and termite abatement practices for your specific environmental challenges as well as a few building changes more suitable for your part of our world.
* Metallic termite shields to be placed between the concrete/masonry stem wall, built up wall or full concrete floor/foundation system and the sill plates of the Post & Beam structure.
* .25 retention ACQ or .25 retention CBA Pressure treated pine siding in Real Wood Barn's standard Board and Batten siding or our optional Shiplap siding. This pressure treatment renders the wood rot and termite proof for a period of 50 years backed by the wood treater/manufacturer.
* Real Wood Barn's can also have the entire structural timbers pressure treated for those who feel pressure treating of all wood components is needed in your specific region.
* In order for our structures to blend in a complimentary way with the established architectural styles of Hawaii and the Tropics Real Wood Barn's offer lower roof pitches and eave/soffit overhangs of up to 3 feet past the exterior walls. Our standard overhang is one foot.
* Real Wood Barn's can also offer roof structure only packages to be used as an open porch on your building or to be screened in.
* For those customers in remote areas we can include galvanized or painted metal roofing panels with trim pieces and screws with the metal panels cut to length for your specific building kit. We are also glad to include vinyl or metal house type windows and/or doors.

* We ship kits in 20 ft and 40 ft containers to the port nearest to your building site. Call for freight quotes to your nearest port.
